There is Always Light!

There is Always Light!

“As we honor the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout U.S. history this month, we will be shining a bright light on the many ways the Black culture and community has contributed to and enriched our nation!”  Mrs. Amra, Sward’s Principal

During the month of February, students were eagerly researching various African Americans and shared their knowledge through art, technology and writing.

Adrian, 5th Grade Student shared, “I liked that Martin Luther King Jr. worked to stopped segregation and won the Nobel Peace Prize. Black history in the past is important to know today.  His speech impacted many of us.”

Let us remember this powerful quote from Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history: “There is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.”

“There is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.”
