The fourth and fifth graders of Sward’s Drama Club presented an original play, “Best in Show and Tell” on Wednesday, April 30th to their friends and families following a premiere performance in front of an all-school assembly on Tuesday, April 29th.
“Best in Show and Tell” co-directed by teacher, Gina Abrams and parent volunteer, Carly Bishop, takes the audience to a school wide Pet Competition where the Student Council, advised by Mrs. Marshall, the PE instructor (played by 5th grader, Danya) have narrowed 67 applicants down to 9 pet contestants. Student actors play dogs, a hamster, a bird, a frog, a hermit crab and a mischievous cat (played by 4th grader, Sullivan) as they vie for the prize of “Best in Show.” This original play, written by Carly Bishop, gently introduces the topics of grief and loss while also celebrating the adventures of caring for and loving a pet.
