On Thursday, September 25th, the first graders at Sward school celebrated the culmination of their CKLA Unit on Fables. Our first graders had an incredible time participating in the Fable Olympics! Each station connected to a classic fable, turning important life lessons into fun, active challenges. Students dashed and dodged in The Tale of Peter Rabbit, trying to avoid “Mr. McGregor.” They shouted “sheep, sheep, wolf!” in a playful spin on The Boy Who Cried Wolf, learning why honesty matters. Balancing pails in The Maid and the Milk Pail reminded them about responsibility, while reaching for “grapes” in The Fox and the Grapes encouraged persistence. In The Goose and the Golden Egg, balance games showed the dangers of greed in a hands-on way.
What a creative and meaningful celebration of reading and values—students had a blast and walked away with lessons that will stick!
