Sward Celebrates Unity Week

Sward Celebrates Unity Week

Every year, District 123 schools come together to celebrate Unity Week with a powerful message that bullying should never be a part of childhood. Each day this week highlighted how we can come together to promote kindness, friendship, and inclusion. On Tuesday, October 14th, students and staff were encouraged to wear orange as we pledge to be bully-free! On Wednesday, October 15th, we showed that while we may like different sports, we are all on “Team Kind” by wearing our favorite sports shirts. Then on Thursday, October 16th, everyone wore school spirit wear to show our unity and support for one another. Buddy classrooms got together on Thursday for a special hand-tracing activity, where students will write ways they can be a buddy and not a bully. Throughout the week, classrooms participated in engaging activities, decorated coloring pages, and listened to stories to help students reflect on kindness, empathy, and what it means to stand up for others.
