Moving, Grooving, and Growing in PE

Students at Sward enjoy daily PE classes that keep them active, energized, and excited to move. Even on late-start mornings, our PE team keeps younger learners moving and grooving with playful “Would You Rather” activities, like the crowd favorite, “Would you rather throw a snowball at a friend or at a teacher?” And let’s just say the teachers might want to duck! Older students get in on the fun, too. Fourth grade had a blast playing Hula-Hoop Hustle, a fast-paced game where students underhand tossed bean bags into hula-hoops, sprinted across the gym to add hoops to their team’s growing chain, and even stole hoops from other teams once the pile ran out. The activity gave students valuable practice with underhand throwing, aim, and strategy, all while getting in plenty of cardio as they raced to snag those hoops!
