Read Across America

A former Hannum student reading to Mrs. Robert's class

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” - Dr. Seuss

Many events were planned for World Read Aloud Day, which was supposed to take place on Februrary 2,2022. However, due to a snow day, it was postponed. District 123 decided to make up the day on March 2,2022, Read Across America Day. Hannum students enjoyed every second! The day was dedicated to reading for enjoyment. Students listened to read alouds from their teachers and enjoyed reading to themselves and friends. Classrooms even had special guest readers! These guest included support staff, administrators, and 8th grade middle school students who attended Hannum for elementary school. It's always exciting for the teachers to see former students, but it was even more exciting to have these students be a part of this day dedicated to reading. It showed students just how exciting reading can be! Both middle school students and elementary school students were asking if we could do something like this again because they had so much fun. It was a perfect way to foster the students' love for reading!
