Kids Heart Challenge

3rd grade students completing centers for the Kids Heart Challenge.

Every year, Mr. Fanjoy and Mr. Lazzarotto run the Kids Heart Challenge for the students at Hannum Elementary. Students learn about whole body wellness and how to improve their health. They also learn how to build better character and how to spread kindness. At the end of the month, centers are set up around the gym to get students moving and their hearts pumping. To say students are excited P.E. that day would be an understatement!  Not only do students learn how to better their health, but they also participate in a fundraiser. Students raise funds to help kids, just like them, who are struggling from heart defects and heart issues. This year, the heart challenge focused on Finn, a second grader from Virginia who has had multiple heart surgeries. Hannum's goal was to raise $8,000.00. Not only did Hannum achieve their goal, but they surpassed it by thousands! Hannum raise $19,668.71!  Our students are bettering their health, bettering their character, and they are helping to better the health of other kids around the country!
