A Grinchy Farewell

Mrs. Metzger with her Bear Paw headband and her daily schedule

“The Grinch raised his glass and then made a toast. To Mrs. Metzger, who we love the most!”

Winter break is just around the corner and students and staff are looking forward to spending time with their families. However, the Hannum community knows once winter break hits, we lose Mrs. Metzger, our wonderful office aide. When teachers heard the news, their responses were “What will we do without her?” She helps Mrs. McGovern with numerous things, she makes copies for every teacher at Hannum, she  reminds us to get bear paws in for the raffle every Friday, she can fix any zipper problem, and she’s one of the happy, friendly faces greeting everyone at Hannum.  Our social committee decided to create a Grinch themed office door. But wait, they all thought, we can do so much more! Hannum staff members made special green, Grinch-themed treats for everyone to enjoy last week, especially Mrs. Metzger! Special hearts were given to each classroom. Teachers and students were asked to write down the many ways Mrs. Metzger has made our hearts grow over the years. The responses were heart felt and Mrs. Metzger loved them. The Hannum community will miss her dearly when she leaves, but we will keep her in a special place in their hearts. Thanks to Mrs. Metzger, they're two sizes bigger!
