At the Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Board of Education meeting on January 23, 2023 the Board of Education approved Dr. Patricia Gonzalez as the new Director of English Learning and Ms. Meagan Doornbos as the new principal of Hannum Elementary school.
Both Dr. Gonzalez and Ms. Doornbos bring a passion for education along with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our school district community.
Dr. Gonzalez has worked in education for the past 17 years, and started her educational career as a paraprofessional at Kolmar Elementary School. She went on to become teacher, English Language Learning Specialist, Assistant Principal, and most recently has served as the Principal of Rosa G. Maddock School in Burbank District 111. She is a strong advocate for using evidence-based practices and culturally responsive teaching models to enhance English Learners linguistic, academic, social and emotional success.
Ms. Doornbos has worked in education for 18 years, serving as a teacher, dean of students, and most recently as the assistant principal at Palos South Middle School. As a former District 123 and Hannum student herself, she looks forward to returning back to the building where her educational career began. Ms. Doornbos has a proven track record of success helping to create engaging and productive learning environments, as well as, working to build a culture of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion within the schools she has lead.
