Mrs. Robert's first grade class is one of the classes at Hannum Elementary that is piloting the different ELA curriculums. Currently classes are piloting the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum. This curriculum not only builds reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, but it also builds knowledge in the subjects of history, geopgraphy and science. First graders in Mrs. Robert's class are experieceing this first hand! They are currently working on the unit, "The History or Earth." Students began the unit by learning about the feature's of the Earth's and the Earth's layers. They later explored rocks, minerals and volcanoes. They are closing the unit with the learning about fossils and dinosaurs! Students not only read about these topics but they made their very own fossils! This curriculum really does help build on science and social studies ideas and by the looks of these fossils, there are some future paleontologists in Mrs. Robert's class!
