The Bear Way

The Bear Way

The Hannum Bears have been busy with learning positive behavior called the 'Bear Way'.  The 'Bear Way' is part of our district-wide PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) program that teaches students positive behaviors that are expected at school.

The three behaviors that we teach are:  Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe.  These expectations are expected in every setting at school including: the hallway, bathrooms, lunch room, recess, and all classrooms. Mrs. Doornbos and Miss Turek led a PBIS Bootcamp to proactively teach students behavioral expectations.

Students can earn Bear Bucks by demonstrating these positive behaviors.  Hannum will also debut a store where students can use saved Bear Bucks to buy prizes.  Staff and students are so excited for this!  Parents can support our learning community by asking their children about the 'Bear Way' and how many Bear Bucks they have earned.  Mrs. Doornbos will be explaining more about this to families at Hannum's Open House on Tuesday, September 5.  Hope to see you all there!
