Down on the Farm

Down on the Farm

Kindergarten students create their own farms in Hannum hallways.

Our littlest Bears have been spending their ELA time learning about farms.  Kindergarteners have listened to various nursery rhymes and stories such as: Old McDonald Had a Farm and The Little Red Hen.  In a previous unit they learned about plants so they could understand that some farms grow crops and others have animals that produce milk and/or eggs.  They are also learning the seasonality to farming-there is a time to plant, grow, and sow.  Students also learn about the different types of animals that may live on a farm and what food they provide to people.  Finally, our students will understand how the food farmers grow ends up in a market for people to buy.  We are so proud of our Bears and all of the new learning and connections that are being made regarding how people get their food.  It's a Moo-velous concept!!
