I recently heard from the 3rd grade ELA Enrichment teacher about an exciting opportunity their students experienced after finishing their novel study. The class participated in a virtual Author’s Visit with Peter Brown, the multiple-time New York Times best-selling author of The Wild Robot. According to the teacher, the hour-long Zoom session was packed with engaging activities and fascinating information. Students took part in a directed drawing of a scene from the book and had the chance to join a live Q&A session with Peter Brown. Even more exciting, they were on the call with classrooms from across the country, including students tuning in all the way from Alaska and Hawaii. The teacher shared how inspired and excited the students felt after connecting with the author behind a story they loved. It was a memorable way to celebrate the end of their novel study and a wonderful enrichment experience for everyone involved.
