Look at all that fun!
Yesterday, our 3rd Grade Math Enrichment students had an exciting and educational field trip right here in Oak Lawn! This experience brought their financial literacy studies to life in a meaningful and memorable way. Students began their day at a local trust bank, where they explored areas most people never get to see. They stepped behind the tellers’ counter, visited the secure vault, and sat in a meeting room. This hands-on experience helped students connect classroom learning to real-world financial systems. Next, students toured Village Hall, including the Mayor’s Office, Clerk’s Office, and Board Room. They learned how local government functions and how financial decisions are made within the community. The adventure continued at the police station, where students visited the roll call room, break room, and equipment areas where officers store body cameras and other tools. A highlight for many was sitting inside a police car and van and even experiencing what it’s like to be inside a real jail cell! The day wrapped up with a relaxing lunch at the park, giving students time to reflect on all they had learned.
