Part of the Solution, not the Pollution!

Part of the Solution, not the Pollution!

Sixth grade students at #OLHMS are ready to change the world! 6th graders recently participated in creating PSAs (Public Service Announcements) to stop ocean pollution and climate change. After reading Flush by Carl Hiaasen and World Without Fish by Mark Kurlansky, students were inspired to help put an end to pollution and climate change. After researching the effects of human interference on the world and the help of Media Specialist Heather McCarthy, these scholars found their passion to create extension projects to continue educating their family, friends and community members. Some of these projects included podcasts, stop motion videos, art sculptures, documentaries, and even the adoption of Aukai (Hawaiian for explorer/seafarer), an adult female green sea turtle released with a satellite transmitter near Costa Rica. These projects are currently on display at the Oak Lawn Public Library.
