Headlines and Deadlines - OLHMS Yearbook Awarded for Outstanding Publication

OLHMS Yearbook spread for exceptional photography

They’re at it again! The OLHMS Yearbook staff is making history! For the past two years, the OLHMS Yearbook has been awarded with being featured in Balfour’s The Yearbook Yearbook, a national and overseas publication that showcases exceptional work in theme development, design, and photography.

The 2020 yearbook was featured for outstanding spread design. The theme for the 2020 yearbook was “Our True Colors” and featured all OLHMS Mustangs as their true, vibrant selves. This yearbook was nearly complete before the original March 2020 shut down, so most of the work that went into it was done by the students of OLHMS.

Now, the 2021 OLHMS Yearbook is being added to the list! Last year’s yearbook is being featured for outstanding spread design and photography. The 2021 yearbook was in the middle of COVID, so the appropriate theme for the 2021 yearbook was “Pause for the Moments.” This yearbook shared all the special moments we continued to have during the 2021 school year despite the effects of COVID.

The OLHMS Yearbook staff relied on the families and friends of OLHMS to create the 2021 yearbook. COVID really put a damper on everything, including the yearbook; however, this didn’t stop the incredible yearbook scholars and advisers, Mrs. Miller and Ms. Orloff, from creating another fabulous publication.

In addition to being featured in Balfour’s The Yearbook Yearbook, the OLHMS Yearbook has been used as a sample yearbook by Balfour representatives to teach other schools about possible design, photography, and theme ideas. Extra copies of the OLHMS Yearbook are printed for representatives to showcase to their other clients for inspiration. This is the third year in a row that the OLHMS Yearbook has been given this honor as well.
