It's the Final Countdown!

It's the Final Countdown!

The end of the school year means OLHMS scholars are able to let loose and have some fun! Many activities are planned to celebrate our Mustang’s fantastic academic year.

Last Thursday, OLHMS scholars had a day they will remember forever. When 8th grade students entered the Six Flags Amusement Park, they were filled with excitement and anticipation. Students enjoyed a day full of roller coasters, unlimited food, and made memories that will last a lifetime. A few roller coasters that students, and teachers, could not stop raving about were Superman, The Joker, X Flight, Giant Drop, and Raging Bull. Nick, an 8th grade student, stated, “[Six Flags] was so much fun, and it was a once in a lifetime chance to go with all my friends and classmates- I will remember that day forever.” Not only did students enjoy the phenomenal roller coasters, they indulged in all-you-can-eat hot dogs, burgers, and ice cream!

6th and 7th grade students were treated to a very special Field Day on Thursday, May 26th. The OLHMS PTSA graciously rented five different inflatables letting students reminisce on their inner child. The PTSA rented an ax throwing and football throwing inflatable where students had to use their best aim. There also was a human foosball inflatable where students tried to win a life-size game of foosball! Two of the most popular inflatables were the Ninja wall and the obstacle course. Students’ competitive side came out in full blast!

Students’ faces were so joyous for this amazing opportunity. The rain didn’t stop our Mustangs from having the time of their lives! 6th grader, Cal, said the “best part of Field Day was when I played kickball with my friends! Everyone was having fun and I scored a homerun run! My friends celebrated with me and splashed me with water. It was the best field day I’ve had in my entire life!”

The PTSA also sponsored the 8th grade dance, so all 8th grade students who attended did not have to pay for anything! The theme for our dance this year was “Ready, Set, Glow!,” and students were more than prepared for the occasion. It truly was an epic night full of dressed up 8th graders, smiles, dancing, refreshments, and memories. When Aaron was asked what was the highlight of his night, he said, “taking pictures with all my friends before the dance was special for me because it is a core memory I will cherish forever.” Katie said her highlight of the night was “getting glow sticks and dancing the night away with all my friends! It really was a night to remember.”

It’s always difficult to end a school year when you are used to seeing such fabulous students walking the halls but having these memories to reflect on makes up for it.
