We don't make excuses - we make free throws!

OLHMS staff and scholars were treated to a special PBIS Trimester Celebration before leaving for winter break! The PBIS Universal team put together an all-school celebration in the OLHMS gymnasium. Each Advisory chose two representatives to participate in a free-throw contest with one scholar shooting free-throws and the other scholar quickly rebounding the ball.

Ms. Faheem and Dr. Hantson put together the bracket for each advisory and kept track of who was moving forward during the contest. The scorekeepers, bracket coordinators, and timekeeper of the event were none other than Mr. Mears, Mrs. Ksiazek, and Ms. Petraitis. Mr. Clendenning and Mr. Elliott kept score under each basket as Advisory representatives hustled to make the most free-throws. Mrs. Dunican was MC for the entire celebration and pumped the crowd up.

Braeden V and Cal C from Mrs. Ogean’s 7th grade Advisory won the free-throw contest…but the fun didn’t stop there! Dr. McNichols and Dr. Hantson held a rematch from the inaugural free-throw contest. Dr. McNichols won this time around. Then it was time for Dr. McNichols to have his rematch with Ms. Danos. Both Dr. McNichols and Ms. Danos are basketball enthusiasts! Dr. McNichols played throughout his school days and coaches his sons’ basketball team. Ms. Danos played throughout school and also at Eastern University! Ms. Danos stole the show with her impressive free-throws and won this rematch! Finally, Braeden and Ms. Danos faced each other! Braeden put up a good fight, but Ms. Danos was the winner of this challenge. All staff and students involved were thrilled to have this celebration!

One of the purposes of the PBIS Universal team is to create and develop celebrations for scholars who have continuously shown positive behavior and decision making. These events are always a crowd favorite, especially right before a long break!
