Each morning, OLHMS scholars start the day with pride and reflection. Students in every Advisory take turns reading the morning script which includes reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the OLHMS and D123 mission statements, and daily announcements from administration.
Following the Pledge, with the utmost respect and pride, students declare, “At OLHMS we are a dynamic and supportive environment that ignites lifelong learners who embrace diversity and contribute positively to our community and global society. We are preparing today’s learners for tomorrow’s world and creating our dream to make it a reality.”
OLHMS students are always anxious to talk over the intercom. Calvin shared, “I was so nervous I wouldn’t be able to pronounce the big words! Dr. McNichols likes using them a lot, so I didn’t want to mess up! Once I was done with the announcements, I felt great! I didn’t mess anything up!” At OLHMS, our scholars always make us proud!
The morning announcements are meant to engage OLHMS staff and scholars at the beginning of the day and remind everyone to have the best day they possibly can! Having our scholars take ownership in the announcements and hear themselves and their schoolmates over the intercom reminds them of the community and family we have created here at OLHMS.
