Since October 18th, Ms. Hughes and Mr. Edie have been preparing their cast and crew members for a play they will always remember and cherish. Last Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday, our High School Musical Jr. cast performed for their teachers, family members, loved ones, and friends. From the backstage crew perfecting the placement of the stage setting to the casting crew bringing their characters to life, our 54 OLHMS students worked together to put on an unforgettable show.
Last Thursday, February 2nd, teachers and staff members were invited to an exclusive show of High School Musical Jr. by the cast. Teachers were so excited to watch their students’ hard work on display, and they shared the memorable moment by bringing their kids to watch the show, too. After a successful first run of the show with an audience, students performed on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Between both shows, there were about 700 tickets sold! When Emely was asked how it felt to perform in front of a packed crowd, she said “it was one of the best feelings. I had so much fun and am really proud of everyone.” On Monday, February 6th, the cast and crew students were given five VIP tickets to give to their closest friends for them to see the performance one last time. AJ, friend of a cast member, said “I was so happy to see my best friend on stage doing so well! I could not stop smiling, and I’m just so happy for her- she is amazing!”
When Ms. Hughes reflected on the High School Musical Jr. performance, she said “Overall, this is a wonderful group of dedicated kids that have been working tirelessly to put on an amazing show. They learned vocals and choreography for 13 songs and performed them wonderfully. I am so grateful to work with such amazing students, and I am so proud of what they were able to accomplish in this show. Not only did they put on a stellar performance, but they have really developed into leaders throughout this experience. I am so proud to be their director!”
We are so unbelievably proud of all cast and crew members, and grateful for the endless hours Ms. Hughes and Mr. Edie put in to make this show great.
