Every few weeks for the past several years, Jacky Connelly, founder of Jacky’s Soldiers, has gathered and shipped care packages to our U.S. Troops who have been serving our country overseas for long periods of time. At OLHMS, our 8th grade Student Ambassadors wanted to give back and serve others by kicking off a service project for our U.S. Troops. From January 30th to February 3rd, OLHMS students collected gum and granola bars, then donated everything for Jacky’s Soldiers to send out to our troops. By the end of the week, our OLHMS students donated over 1,100 granola bars and over 300 packs of gum!
We are so grateful for our 8th grade Student Ambassador sponsors, Mrs. Georgelos, Mr. Mamolella, and Mrs. Strayer, our 8th grade Student Ambassadors for going into advisories to collect items, and all of our OLHMS students for donating endless goodies for our U.S. Troops. The biggest thank you and heartfelt gratitude to the men and women who risk their lives to protect our country- OLHMS is forever thankful for your ultimate sacrifice. After we gave Jacky’s Soldiers the donation, Mrs. Jacky stated, “please make sure the students know how much they have made a difference in the lives of our soldiers. Each soldier will have their morale lifted to know someone cares about them as they open each care box filled with delicious goodies of granola bars and gum provided by the students and teachers of OLHMS.”
