Kudos to Kindness!

Kudos to Kindness!

It’s Kindness Week in D123! Each year, kindness week falls right around Valentine’s Day which is a perfect opportunity for our staff and scholars to spread some love and kindness! This year, all of D123 participated in kindness spirit days and challenges.

Here at OLHMS, staff and students went above and beyond with their spirit day outfits:

  • Mustang pride flooded the building on Monday!
  • Valentine’s Day brought lots of pink and red outfits.
  • Staff and student team pride was flowing through the hallways and classrooms on “jersey day!” It was exciting to see so many familiar teams but even more exciting to see our scholars wear their own jerseys!
  • Pajama day is always a classic favorite for staff and students. Who wouldn’t want to roll out of bed and head straight to OLHMS?!
  • Finally, on Friday, there was a sea of orange (the PBIS color) and unique hats that paraded the halls.

We also enjoyed seeing our staff and scholars complete the kindness challenges for each day. There is always so much to be thankful for, so watching the OLHMS Mustangs give gratitude and thanks definitely warms the heart. A staff favorite is the challenge that asks students to write a kind letter to a teacher or staff member. Mrs. Hines, 6th grade ELA teacher, shared, “It’s so fun to see what the kids remember from previous years! I received a note from a student I taught last year. He remembered something from class that I completely forgot about. I love that my students remember these things from my class and that it sticks with them.”
