Successful Lady Mustang Season!

Successful Lady Mustang Season!

Our Lady Mustang program showcased their talent in the 2023 SWIC Conference Tournament. In the second round of the tournament, our 6/7th grade Lady Mustangs played Grissom. When our OLHMS Ladies went head to head with Grissom, they battled and won by six points. During the semi-final game against Jerling, our girls left everything they had on the court. Unfortunately, Jerling beat our Lady Mustangs by one point. Our Lady Mustangs played together and did the best they could. Overall, our 6/7th grade Lady Mustangs placed 4th in the SWIC Conference Tournament!

For our 8th grade Lady Mustangs, the tournament started in the second round against Prairie View. Our girls started the tournament strong with a 14 point win over Prairie View, then faced the #4 seed team in the semi-final game- Century. Our ladies played their hearts out and left everything they had on the court and beat Century by 12 points. It came down to the final game of the year- the SWIC Conference Championship against undefeated Palos South. During last Saturday’s Championship game against Palos South, our Lady Mustangs lost by ten points. To start the game off, OLHMS scored 12 points to Palos’s six points. Sofia F. had several 3’s; Nadine had endless rebounds and took the ball to the basket; Lucy W. had countless rebounds and a bucket; and Jamilah G. had key rebounds. The girls played impeccable defense, they moved the ball around on offense, and had fun in their last game as a Lady Mustang. Despite the Mustang’s loss on Saturday, our 8th grade girls team won 2nd place in the SWIC Conference Tournament!

Coach Carmody and Coach Danos are so proud of their girls for all of their hard work, dedication, and perseverance throughout this season, and they cannot wait to see what amazing future the Lady Mustangs will have on and off the court!
