International Fest Brings Cultural Acceptance to OLHMS!

Students at OLHMS came together on March 22nd for a vibrant celebration of diversity during International Fest. The day kicked off with a "flags of the world" ceremony and engaging STEAM activities like Tangram puzzles. Over 90 student volunteers were instrumental in organizing interactive presentations, with special thanks to Ms. Maan for her leadership, and support from Mrs. Petraitis and Ms. Ingle.

Throughout the event, students led presentations on various countries, while everyone enjoyed playing cultural games from Chile, Ghana, Indonesia, Egypt, Greece, and Italy. Language lessons in Arabic, Spanish, and Urdu further enriched the experience. Film screenings provided insightful perspectives, with students viewing "Pelé: The Birth of a Legend," "McFarland USA," and "Queen of Katwe."

One of the most memorable moments of the day unfolded in the cafetorium, where vibrant live performances stole the spotlight during International Fest. The audience was treated to a mesmerizing array of dances, showcasing the rich diversity of cultures represented at OLHMS. From the energetic rhythms of Dabke to the graceful movements of Hawaiian hula, and the romantic Waltz from France, the performances transported spectators on a global journey. Spectacular displays of talent continued with dances from Pakistan and India, the lively Italian mambo, and the spirited routines from Richards High School All American Dance Class, leaving the audience awestruck and applauding the power of cultural expression through dance.

International Fest highlighted the beauty of cultural diversity, leaving students with hearts full of appreciation and minds enriched with understanding.
