This week, OLHMS proudly welcomed the next generation of Mustangs as 5th grade students from across the district officially began their transition to middle school!
Dr. McNichols visited each 5th grade classroom in the district to kick off the transition process, personally greeting students and sharing what it means to be part of the OLHMS family. Excitement continued to build as 5th graders traveled to OLHMS for their very first visit to the school they will soon call home.
During their visit, 8th grade student ambassadors hosted a panel discussion, answering questions and offering advice about what to expect in middle school. From lockers and lunchrooms to clubs and encore classes, no topic was off-limits! Afterwards, ambassadors led the students on a guided tour of the building, pointing out key locations and sharing their own experiences.
As students explored the hallways and peeked into classrooms, excitement filled the air. Some comments overheard from the visiting 5th graders included, "Wow! This school is so big!", "I can't believe how many encore classes there are!", and "I'm so excited for next year!"
We are thrilled to welcome our newest Mustangs and can't wait to see all the amazing things they will accomplish at OLHMS!
