The Ed Foundation granted 3D printers to elementary schools this year, and at Kolmar, we are excited to explore them more each day. This new technology opens the door to hands-on learning, creativity, and problem-solving for our students. Mrs. Darge, our media specialist, has already begun working on small projects using the 3D printers we received, helping students see how ideas can turn into real, physical objects.
One of the current projects is for the Howl Store — our PBIS Trimester Store — where students will soon be able to choose fun items created with the 3D printers as rewards. Mrs. Darge has already made figurines, fidgets, and other small objects that students are eager to earn. It has been exciting to see how quickly interest in the printers has grown throughout the school.
Looking ahead, Mrs. Darge hopes to involve every grade level in designing and creating a project of their own. These projects will give students the chance to brainstorm, plan, and bring their ideas to life. Through this work, students are building important STEM skills such as engineering design, creativity, and problem-solving — skills that connect directly to real-world careers in technology, engineering, and design. We’re excited to see how this new technology will inspire creativity, collaboration, and future career interests at Kolmar. Cheers to innovation and new opportunities for our students!
