Student Council is off to a Great Start

At Kolmar, Student Council is a very important part of our school community. Students in 3rd-5th grade are eligible to run for student council. Student council is made up of one boy and one girl in each 3rd-5th grade classroom. If students are interested in being a part of student council, they campaign in their classroom. They write a speech and make a poster explaining why they should be chosen as their classes representative. The class then votes and the girl and boy winner each become a part of student council. The group meets twice a month after school and they focus on all different things to help make Kolmar the great place it is. They make posters promoting positive school behaviors, they make reminders about upcoming school events, and they make inspirational posters! One major thing student council does is they have a few different fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the school, or for good causes in the community. Mrs. Koch and Ms. Eifler are the teachers in charge of student council and we can’t thank them enough for all their hard work! Congrats to the new student council members, we can’t wait to see what this year brings!
