What Unity Means to Us

What Unity Means to Us

The whole district celebrated Unity Week this week. At Kolmar, teachers and students really painted the town orange! The hallways were decorated with orange posters and paper chains that promoted unity and stood against bullying. No child should have to experience bullying and this week teachers really focused on what it looks like to show kindness and acceptance. Here are some quotes from students about what unity means to them and their take aways from this week:

"Kind means don't hurt feelings or bodies"- 1st Grader

"Unity week means including everyone all the time no matter who they are"- 2nd Grader

"Unity week teaches us that it's not only important to stick up for ourselves, but to stick up for other people too."-3rd Grader

At Kolmar we are spreading the message of kindness and acceptance everyday, but it is nice to have a week to really step back and make sure we are showing students what this means and what it looks like. By instilling this kindness and acceptance in our students now, we are helping them create a kinder, more accepting world!
