5th Grade Moving Art Project

5th Grade Moving Art Project

The Kolmar halls have a really cool addition to them, the 5th graders recent art project that focuses on movement. 5th grade artists focused on one of the principles of art: movement and the art element: color. They learned about 4 color groups: Primary, secondary, warm, and cool colors. Before the tracing, cutting, and gluing could take place, they had to decide on their pose as the movement component of the project. Our fabulous art teacher Mrs. Padilla was their photographer for this step. The students got really creative here and came up with some awesome poses! After they received their black and white picture, they decided which color group they would work with. Cool and warm colors seemed to be the popular choice. They needed to include 6 or more colored cutouts plus their black and white picture. They discussed composition (arrangement) and how they can display movement within the space! It is such a cool project and our students are so lucky to have such an amazing art teacher to learn from!
