The 2025 track and field season was nothing short of exhilarating for the OLHMS Mustangs, as student-athletes gave their all at the SWIC Conference Meet — and it showed in the final results.
Leading the way were our 6th/7th grade boys, who dominated the competition and clinched 1st place overall. Their strength was especially clear in relay events, where they raced to first in both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays, powered by standout performances from Caleb Lejawa, Michael Cruz, Jase Finley, and Jeremiah Thomas. Lejawa also sprinted his way to individual gold in the 100m and 200m dashes, showcasing speed and determination.
The 8th grade boys also made their presence known, finishing 5th overall with a powerful win in the 4x200m relay and top finishes in distance events, including a strong showing from Matt Bertalmio and Nathan Lopez in the 800m and 4x400m relays.
Our 8th grade girls secured a solid 4th place finish, led by Aine Page, who sprinted to 1st place in the 400m dash and anchored a competitive 4x400m relay team. Meanwhile, the 6th/7th grade girls placed 7th, with notable contributions from Maddie Schwoebel, Jimena Gonzalez, and Marisa Purley, especially in the relay races.
Across events—from sprints to long-distance runs, high jump to shot put—Mustang athletes showed heart, hustle, and teamwork. Whether breaking the tape or cheering from the sidelines, each runner, jumper, and thrower represented OLHMS with pride.
Congratulations to all our Mustang athletes for their hard work, sportsmanship, and a memorable season on the track. We can't wait to see what the future holds!
