On September 30th, the OLHMS Buddies Program celebrated Be Who You Are Day, inspired by Todd Parr’s uplifting book Be Who You Are. The event encouraged students to proudly embrace their individuality, celebrate differences, and spread kindness throughout the school community.
Throughout the day, students participated in activities that highlighted identity and acceptance. They read Todd Parr’s stories, reflected on what makes each person unique, and created artwork and messages celebrating self-expression. Stations included button making, coloring, reading, building, and other kindness-centered projects that encouraged teamwork and creativity.
The joyful atmosphere was filled with laughter, learning, and connection as students worked together across grade levels. Be Who You Are Day fostered inclusivity, self-confidence, and respect—reminding everyone that the world is brighter when we are free to be ourselves.
