Celebration at Covington

Celebration

Covington students were able to soak up the last of the Summer sun during their first Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports celebration or  PBIS.

“All of our students earn our PBIS Celebrations. We include everyone in these events. We as a whole are committed to working towards being Respectful, Responsible and Safe throughout the month but in regards to the way that we look at our Celebrations they include all of our school,” said Convington Principal John Wawczak.

Because of the students’ excellent behavior, they earned a PBIS Reading Picnic. They were able to get outside, find a spot, take a break from their mask, and get lost in a good story. The celebration was school-wide, and for the last hour of school on Friday, hybrid and remote students enjoyed reading.

“Classes did a variety of reading activities – some did read aloud, some did individual reading, and some incorporated drawing with their reading. All students, both in-person and remote, also received a popsicle treat to enjoy during the time. The students all really enjoyed the event. Now that we have done it for a few years it is something that our older students have come to expect as we always do this as our first monthly celebration,” said Wawczak.
