Welcome New Teachers to District 123

New Teachers

District 123 welcomed 25 new teachers and staff to the team this year! During New Teacher Orientation, the new staff members got an overview of programs, curriculum, and technology practices in the District.

New Faculty members were introduced to a variety of programs in District 123 including the Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) initiative, Instructional Coaching, and Early Learning program. They also had the opportunity to be paired with mentors, who will work and help guide them along in their transition to District 123.

“I am most excited about the collaboration between colleagues and parents allowing for the best year we can have. I might not have started yet, but you can just sense the energy and dedication there is that’s all about the students. And that’s an awesome feeling as the new guy on the block,” said New Teacher at OLHMS, Corey Elizter.

While for some the opportunity to learn about a new community, for others it is a chance to come back home.

“I am a graduate of Kolmar and McGugan and found my education at District 123 to be so exciting, fun and enriching; I wanted to come back and teach where I grew up,” said Eileen Kennedy, who will be teaching at OLHMS this year.

The first day of school for both Hybrid and Remote instruction is Wednesday, August 17, 2020.
