The Oak Lawn-Hometown District 123 Board of Education virtually held their regularly scheduled Board Meeting on Monday, April 20, 2020. View the agenda.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Superintendent Report:

Superintendent Dr. Paul Enderle updated the Board on current COVID-19 decisions and plans including gathering feedback from community stakeholders and District staff regarding the end of the school year events and gatherings like graduation, safe access to buildings for personal items from lockers and desks and future decisions about the District 123 Summer School Program.  Dr. Enderle expressed the importance of continuing open communication with our community through the weekly D123 Live Community Updates on Facebook, e-mail updates, social media, and more.

Capital Projects Update:

Operations Director Leo Cassidy reviewed the capital project updates with the board. Cassidy Presented tentative plans for the Hometown Parking Lot project with various options. He also updated the board on the OLHMS Surge Suppression project and other HVAC projects throughout the district.

Technology Update:

Dr. Joseph Macchia presented the board with a technology report. Since the government-mandated school closure, District 123 has been able to send each student home with a reliable device for remote learning, District technology staff has set up a weekly system for student device replacement and repair, and provide at-home support in addition to reliable internet access for families. Macchia also presented the Board with a Resolution to Authorize Lease of Computer Equipment for students in grades 3-5 which the Board approved.
