March 20, 2020 – The following is a letter that was sent from Superintendent Paul Enderle to the District123 community regarding recent school closure and coronavirus information.
Good Afternoon District 123 Staff and Community,
Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility and support as we work together as a community to practice social distancing and help our collective communities slow the spread of COVID-19.
This afternoon in addition to a ‘Stay at Home’ order, Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that all Illinois schools will remain closed through Tuesday, April 7. This indicates that the reopening date for schools statewide has been tentatively postponed until April 8. However, this date may be extended depending on how the COVID-19 pandemic evolves. We will continue to partner with the Governor’s Office, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), local health agencies, and our educational associations to ensure our future plans meet the needs of our greater community.
Next Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at noon, we will be updating the District 123 community live on our Facebook page at facebook.com/district123. Additionally, we will send updated communication to our community via email later that afternoon.
District 123 will continue to provide “Grab and Go” meal packages during spring break. We are proud to have already served 2400 meals to our community during this time of need. Meal packages can be picked up at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School, 5345 West 99th Street. To keep all of our families and staff members safe, we are asking that our meal pickups be contact-free. Those picking up meals should wait for a staff member to walk the meal package out to your car. View the “Grab & Go” Pickup Map for more information.
As we move into our normally scheduled Spring Break (March 23-27) please remain connected to our school district and our students. Please be assured our top priority continues to be the health and safety of our entire learning community.
