District 123 provides free weekday “Grab and Go” Meal Packages

grab and go

School District 123 has been working hard to ensure we can continue to support families and students throughout this unprecedented time. One way District 123 will continue to support our families and students is through the availability of breakfast and lunch “Grab and Go” meal packages.

All children who reside within our community including students from our local high schools, will have the availability of our “Grab and Go” meal package for the duration of our closure. This includes any child in our community, ages 3-18.

District 123 will provide the “Grab and Go” meal package on weekdays at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School, throughout the duration of our schools’ closure. This includes spring break and will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

District 123 will also be offering meals free from the 8 major allergens: peanut, tree nut, wheat, milk, egg, soy, fish, and shellfish. Please request an allergen free meal at pick-up.

Additionally, some Grab & Go packages will be Heat & Serve. These meals are offered precooked and served cold with the purpose of them being heated prior to consuming. Those receiving these meals should make sure to heat the meal to a temperature of 165°F or higher in a proper container for your oven or microwave. All hot foods must be held at a temperature of 135°F or higher. Any remaining meals should be discarded within 5 days of receiving the Heat & Serve meal.

DIRECTIONS FOR WEEKDAY MEAL PICKUP

Meals can be picked up at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on weekdays throughout the upcoming school closures. You do not need to sign up in advance to pick up a meal at school. A staff member may write down the name of any student/family receiving a “Grab and Go” meal; however, no family will be charged for any meals received. To keep all of our families and staff members safe, we are asking that our meal pickups be contact-free. The details for how to pick up meals at OLHMS are listed below:

  • Drive into the main parking lot (North side of Building) (See Map)
  • Pull up to Door #1, located off of 99th St.
  • A staff member will walk the meals out to your car.
  • Please remain in your car and wait for someone to bring you the meals.
  • If you intend to walk to the school to pick up meals, please walk to the designated entrance (Door #1) and wait outside for a staff member to bring you meals.
  • “Grab and Go” Pickup Map

Please remember these plans may be amended as we continue to receive guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Thank you for your cooperation and continued support!
