Shedd ROV Program Puts Students to the Test

Shedd Aquarium

A group of Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School students gave up their last Saturday of spring break to test out their underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV).

Thanks to a program through the Shedd Aquarium, students were able to build their own robot over the past few months for underwater use. The Shedd provided the materials needed for the project including soldering tools, a control board, and PVC pipes to help the students along.

Once at Northeastern the group put the finishing touches on their ROV, had the chance to fly drones, and take a spirited team photo before taking the robot to the water. Were they successful? Did the robot fly? Find out in this 30-second recap video.
