Kindergarteners are now able to make a slam dunk in gym class thanks to an innovative new basketball hoop.

“We are always looking for new ideas for our Kindergarten and 1st-grade students for our basketball unit. We want them to be successful when they practice shooting. We got this net from a grant we did to see how it worked with the students in our unit. We also are adding it to a basketball net for some of our 2nd-grade students as well,” said Renee Ziobro, Physical Education Teacher at Kolmar.

The new hoops are attached to the old ones and hang just a bit lower, allowing smaller students to still experience the same success as their taller peers.

“The students seem to enjoy the new net. They are happy that there are nets they can make. We know that this net works for our basketball unit with the younger grades and we are able to practice our shooting skills with age-appropriate equipment,” said Ziobro.

Kolmar was able to purchase the new nets through a grant. Check out the video below to see the hoop in action!
