District 123 Ed Foundation Welcomes Retired Educators Back For Annual Luncheon

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 understands the importance of staying connected within your community. On Friday, October 10, the District 123 Education Foundation hosted its annual retired staff luncheon, welcoming former employees back to Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School for an afternoon of connection, celebration, and updates about the Ed Foundation’s initiatives for enhanced student learning.

One exciting update shared was how the Ed Foundation’s mini-grant program provided each D123 elementary school’s media center with a 3D printer. These printers are helping to expand STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning by giving students hands-on opportunities to design, create, and innovate.

Adding a special touch to the event, 8th-grade student ambassadors greeted guests and helped serve lunch, ensuring the District’s retired staff members felt welcomed and appreciated.

The annual luncheon is more than just a meal, it’s a meaningful tradition that keeps the Education Foundation and the District connected to those who have shaped its story, while celebrating the strong learning community that continues to thrive today.
