Celebrating 100 and 101 Days of Learning with Fun and Style

From gray wigs to Dalmatian spots, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 students sure know how to celebrate the 100th and 101st days of school. These milestones in the academic calendar were recognized to emphasize how many days of learning our students have accomplished with a little bit of fun!

For many elementary schools in the country, the winter months seem to drag, so the 100th day of school is a perfect time to celebrate students’ progress between the excitement of the holiday season and the wait for spring break. It’s also a great moment to recognize that we're more than halfway through the school year.

Many students, teachers, and principals dressed up in wigs, gowns, and accessories to look like 100-year-olds, and some grade levels dressed in white and black spots, like the 101 Dalmatians. Whether it was hosting "glow parties" to celebrate being 100 days brighter or tapping into their creative sides to imagine life with $100, or at 100 years old, D123 classrooms were filled with excitement.

By taking a moment to celebrate and reflect on the accomplishments over the last 100 and 101 days, students are motivated to continue their learning through the rest of the year and excited to reach more milestones.
