2020 NJHS Induction Ceremony

NJHS Induction Ceremony

Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School welcomed 68 new members into the National Junior Honor Society this week through a virtual ceremony. The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a prestigious organization that is available to our current 7th and 8th-grade students. Students may petition to become active members of the chapter by meeting the qualifying standards which focus on the five pillars of NJHS: scholarship, citizenship, leadership, character, and service.

“Do not rest on your laurels, but strive to be individuals of great character, who desire to serve others as leaders, always seeking to gain knowledge to make changes to improve society, and make this world, our world, a better place,” Dr. Enderle said to the group. “I congratulate you, as well as your parents and families, on your induction into the National Honor Junior Honor Society and your acceptance of the responsibility it entails.”

In order to be eligible for NJHS membership, the student must meet the following requirements:

  • Documented Community Service Hours
  • Consistently Meeting standards across academic areas
  • A digital portfolio that highlights examples of the five NJHS pillars (scholarship, citizenship, leadership, character, and service)
  • The presentation of a Capstone Project focusing on a compelling issue within our community.

Additionally, students are encouraged to be academic leaders, support their peers, and serve their community. The ultimate goal of the organization is to build character and values among the membership. Check out the list of honorees and full ceremony below.
