Looking for a way to encourage students to finish all of their work, Mrs. Miller thought a fun incentive would help the students get things done and enjoy her class.

“I wanted to find a way to reward my students who work so hard throughout the year and I’m always trying to build some incentives to boost homework completion. A teacher I follow on Instagram does a coffee day with her high school students, so that gave me the idea to try something similar with my kiddos,” said Miller.

Students who complete all their homework can order a flavored hot chocolate made by the teachers. The small act has made a big impact on students at the middle school, setting the tone for a more positive day.

“I think that it gets the students excited about class and generally creates a positive atmosphere. I had so many students smiling and saying, “thank you!” throughout the day,” she said.

Any students in the class that complete work early also get an additional sweet treat with their latte, a munchkin donut as well.
