District 123 Demonstrates Encouraging Progress on ISBE Annual School Report Card

On October 30th the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released data used to evaluate all K-12 public schools in Illinois, including School District 123. The yearly Report Card data offers an in-depth look at the advancement of our schools in various areas including academics, attendance, school climate, and finance.

School District 123 continues to demonstrate encouraging progress in a number of areas on the 2023 school report card. This year two District 123 schools, Kolmar and Sward, received the highest designation status of “Exemplary”', awarded to Illinois Schools performing in the top 10% of all schools within the state. Covington, Hannum, Hometown, and OLHMS all received the second highest designation of “Commendable”. While we are proud of our designations and the growth demonstrated this past year, as a guiding principle we remain committed to the continuous improvement of each of our students and each of our schools. We take the ISBE Report Card and Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) data seriously, as we do our NWEA MAP and local achievement data. Through the careful analysis of our results we can better determine areas of priority and establish new strategies to improve future outcomes.

The results of the 2023 ISBE Annual Report Card provide a snapshot into this success and help demonstrate the strides we are taking to fulfill this commitment, not as a point of conclusion, but an on-going improvement process. A culture of success is an upward dynamic built each day, shepherded by many, working together in a common direction that yields only the best results. With the support and partnership from our entire school community, I am confident that we will continue to actively live this culture and keep District 123 moving forward in a positive direction.

Sincerely,
