D123 Board of Education Swears in New Member

The Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Board of Education swore in a new board member at the April 28, 2025 meeting. Bryant Evans, a seven-year Oak Lawn resident, joins the board after a successful campaign in the 2025 election.

“My goal is to ensure responsible stewardship of the communities’ resources,” Evans said. “I am eager to partner with the current board and community stakeholders. Fostering a vision that supports community collaboration, while nurturing future leaders, is what I aim to accomplish during my tenure.”

Evans, who has two children currently attending District 123 schools, has served on the School District 123 Ed Foundation board and has helped with the Friends of the Foundation for the past three years. His involvement in the Oak Lawn community also includes serving as a coach for various youth athletic teams in the area.

Additionally, Evans has experience in education as a paraprofessional for School District 163 Park Forest-Chicago Heights for six years.  His roles there included a one-on-one aide to a non-verbal student, an aide in a self-contained special education classroom, and a building assistant for discipline. He started a new career at Southwest Airlines, where he works in the ground operations department as a ramp agent. He also volunteers in the training department to train new Ramp Agents. This October, Evans will be celebrating his 10th anniversary with the airline.

"We are excited to welcome Bryant Evans to the District 123 Board of Education,” Superintendent Paul Enderle said. “His commitment to our community and passion for educational excellence will bring fresh insight and energy to our district’s mission. We look forward to the important contributions he will make in support of our students, families, and Staff in School District 123."
