Information on Illinois Summer EBT Program

The Illinois Department of Human Services, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is continuing the Summer EBT program, also known as SUN Bucks. This initiative aims to provide a $120 annual benefit to help cover the cost of food for school-aged children during the summer months.

SUN Bucks 2025 is available to any student who is receiving free or reduced lunch. Each student will receive a one-time benefit of $120.00 from DHS this summer. The cards will be disbursed by DHS this summer. If a student has a current card (link card), that card will be loaded with $120.00 instead of a new card being issued.

For families who are not automatically enrolled but believe they are eligible, a Summer EBT application is available through the IDHS screener (https://abe.illinois.gov/access/). The last day to apply for Summer EBT 2025 is August 13, 2025.
